Erin Wiesen, Office of Public Guardian
“Guardianship Parameters and How It Pertains to Those Receiving HCBS Services”

Erin Wiesen is the Education and Outreach Coordinator for the Nebraska Office of Public Guardian (OPG). Erin previously served as an Associate Public Guardian with the OPG in the Omaha office, serving as a guardian and/or conservator in northeast Nebraska. She has been with the office since its inception in 2015. Prior to her work with the OPG, Erin worked in services coordination for individuals with developmental disabilities and was a work experience trainer for individuals transitioning from high school special education to adult services. Erin has also worked in other areas of human services, including post-acute housing services for individuals with mental health and substance abuse issues, homelessness prevention, in-home elder care, and insurance billing. Erin has Bachelor of Arts in Applied Psychology and Human Services from College of Saint Mary in Omaha, and a Master of Human Services in Leadership and Management from Concordia University in Seward. She is also a member of the National Guardianship Association.
The Office of Public Guardian is designed to serve as the last resort in providing guardianship and/or conservatorship services for adults when necessary and appropriate. The Office of Public Guardian also provides education, training, and support for private guardians and conservators, and recruits individuals to serve as guardians and conservators for Nebraska’s most vulnerable individuals. The Office of Public Guardian models best practices and seeks to enhance the practice of all guardians and conservators in the state of Nebraska. The work of the Office of Public Guardian is guided by the Public Guardianship Act and the Advisory Council on Public Guardianship.

Alana Schriver, MPH – Nebraska Association of Service Providers
“Cultural Intelligence”

Alana brings a multifaceted perspective to her work in home and community-based services (HCBS) for individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities (IDD). As Executive Director of the Nebraska Association of Service Providers (NASP), she leads statewide efforts to centralize and share the latest resources, best practices, and policy updates while advancing innovative legislative and regulatory solutions on behalf of member organizations.
In addition to her leadership at NASP, Schriver is the co-owner of a specialized agency providing culturally and linguistically appropriate services to individuals with IDD from Nebraska’s refugee communities. Her work in this space reflects a deep commitment to health equity and inclusive service delivery.
Most importantly, Schriver is the parent of a 13-year-old son with IDD who receives waiver services. This personal connection fuels her passionate advocacy for a stronger, more accessible service system that empowers individuals and families.
Schriver holds a Master of Public Health (MPH) in Global Health and is actively involved in several community boards and initiatives. She currently serves on the Douglas County Health Equity Committee, the Munroe-Meyer Institute Community Advisory Board, the Hands of Heartland Community Advisory Board, and the Association of Community Professionals. Her past leadership includes serving as Board President of Restoring Dignity, Secretary of the Omaha Refugee Task Force, Chair of the Omaha Refugee Health Coalition, and board member of Cornerstone Nonprofit Healthcare.
